Connecting to the SoftNAS StorageCenter™
Once you have created the SoftNAS instance in Microsoft Azure, you can connect to it via the StorageCenter
™
GUI, to perform administration.
To connect to StorageCenter
™
the following is required
-
Connect Via SSH to create the SoftNAS password.

Connect to SoftNAS StorageCenter
™
using the domain name of the SoftNAS instance. eg. softnastest.cloudapp.net
Setting the SoftNAS Password
You can set the SoftNAS password from either Windows command line or using Linux/OS X terminal.
Creating the Password Using Terminal
To create the password
1. Open terminal and run the following command
ssh i softnasazure softnas@softnastest.cloudapp.net
Where softnasazure is the pathname to the private-key file on your host that corresponds to the public key that was pasted in at SoftNAS instance creation.
The following message is displayed
2. Select "Yes" to continue connecting to the remote server.
3. From terminal run the following command
sudo password softnas
You are prompted to enter a new password and confirm the password.
Creating the Password from Windows (PuTTy)
To replace the password
1. Open PuTTy and connect to the SoftNAS domain name on port 22.
2. From PuTTy terminal run the following command
sudo password softnas
You are prompted to enter a new password and confirm the password.
Connecting to StorageCenter™
To connect to StorageCenter
™
1. From the Microsoft Azure Management Portal, click on Virtual Machines>Settings>Properties.
2. Take note of the domain name for the SoftNAS instance. eg. softnastest.cloudapp.net
Note: This will be the domain name that you use to connect to SoftNAS.
3. Navigate your browser to the SoftNAS VM domain name.
The StorageCenter
™
login screen is displayed.
2. Enter the following credentials:

For username: softnas (set in the Azure store during VM creation).
-
For password: Provide the password that you set via SSH.
Upon a successful connection, the StorageCenter
™
GUI is displayed.
