About SnapReplicate™ and SNAP HA™

 
Setting up SnapReplicate™ provides replication of data between SoftNAS instances for greater redundancy.  SNAP HA™ , on the other hand, adds an additional layer of protection, by providing load balancing between your SoftNAS instances. 
 

Overview

 
The following are required for a successful SNAPReplicate™ and SNAP HA™ setup.
 
  • Create virtual network (public and private subnets)

  • Deploy 2 instances into the private subnets (into different regions for greater redundancy)

  • Configure SoftNAS SnapReplicate™ for Microsoft Azure.

Load Balancing in Microsoft Azure

 
In MS Azure, when you configure SnapReplicate™ HA, an additional virtual machine is created in Azure, which will act as a load balancer.  The SoftNAS Load Balancer, performs the following
 
  • load balances NAS client storage traffic between the private subnets
 
  • transparently handles port translation, and IP routing tables to enable network address translation (NAT).
