Adding the Source NATAbout Network Address Translation
Gateways in vCloud Air support NAT for the virtual machines connected to gateway networks. Create a NAT rule to translate a public IPv4 address to and from the private IPv4 address of a virtual machine on your internal network in vCloud Air.
vCloud Air supports source NAT (SNAT) and destination NAT (DNAT) rules. When you configure an SNAT or a DNAT rule, you always configure the rule from the perspective of vCloud Air. Specifically, that means you configure the rules in the following ways:
Given the example above, SNAT and DNAT rules are added to enable the internal SoftNAS VMs to communicate with the outside.
SNAT
A Source NAT is required on the IP gateway of the SoftNAS virtual machine to enable a connection to the outside from your vCloud environment.
To create the SNAT
1. Navigate to the gateways screen on the vCloud Air.
2. Click on the IP gateway to which you want to assign the new SNAT rule. This will display the NAT Rules for the Gateway.
3. Click on Add Source NAT, to create a NAT rule that will change the source IP address of outbound packets.
4. Ensure that Original Internal source is the internal/private IP address of the SoftNAS virtual machine that you recorded earlier.
5. For "Translated External Source", choose the IP address of the correct network interface on the IP Gateway.
6. Click on Save.
